Istanbul
In May last year, on my way to Russia, I had a stop over in Istanbul. Having to choose between a stop over of five or ten hours and considering that all we could do in five hours was a detailed tour of every shop in the airport, we decided to choose the ten hour-stop just to be able to have a few hours to escape to the city centre. Okay, so a few hours is a very, very short time to discover a city like Istanbul... It still allowed me to have a quick first glimpse of a rather fascinating city, full of sharp contrasts and still marked by a rather breathtaking blend of cultures.
